Me: Well, I was trying out this enzyme, and the reaction worked alright... gel purified, the products were a little diluted... but then I tried this enzyme and got much better results.
Boss: Good.
Me: ... and then I tried it with transcription, and you can see that these products are much better than the previous ones.
Boss: Good. Are you going to order more of the enzyme?
Me: Well, they actually have free samples in the store room, so I'm going to grab a few more while they still have them, so we should be good for a while. If I need more, I can get more.
Boss: Good.
Me: As far as synthesis goes, all of the reactions are working. I've synthesized and conjugated a few products, and I'm going to start testing them soon.
Boss: Good.
Me: ... and... that's it! Just gotta keep going.
Boss: Good!
(not an exact transcript, but pretty close... aside from an exam this week I'm hitting cruising speed and just going for it! More interesting things after the exam is over...)
Wait a minute. Where is the directive from your boss that will cause your string of successes to come to a screeching halt and inevitably delay your progress?
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that causes my research to come to a screeching halt at this point is me. :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha I highly doubt I will ever have a weekly meeting in which my boss says so few words. She really likes to talk. Not that I'm complaining, it's usually helpful, I just can't imagine a scenario in which she wouldn't find something to add!
ReplyDeleteGlad your work is going well :)
Thanks!
